The kids got to go through their baskets(buckets) first thing.
From Grampa and Gramma they got gardening buckets with vegetable planters and seeds, and of course, chocolate bunnies, gold fish, fruit snacks and glow sticks - and a fun magnadoodle too.
From Daddy and Momma they got cleaning buckets with a few extras. They were so excited to start planting food and cleaning the house. Goy got started cleaning before church.
After buckets, we made resurrection rolls. No pictures of this because it was an all hands on deck project, but it really helped drive the message of the resurrection home.
Then they hunted for eggs. These eggs were empty except for 12 we would open at dinner (ham and potatoes) to teach the resurrection story. Goy made sure his sisters had eggs in their bucket too. He would alternate, an egg for Emma, one for Marion then one for himself. He ended up with the least because the girls found some on their own, but he didn't care, he just wanted to have fun and make sure they were having fun too.
Then it was time to get everyone ready for church. We didn't have time before church for a picture, so they are a bit disheveled after lunch with friends. But they had so much fun this Easter and even prayed a prayer of thanks for Christ's sacrifice and resurrection, without any prompting.
I think we have our new Easter traditions. But next year we might dye some real eggs or make some fun dyed deviled eggs.
There were so many sweet moments to the day that we didn't capture on film, but we will keep the memories for years!
